What might you get if you mixed the brutality of Game of Thrones, a touch of The Godfather, and Blade? Probably something like this.
I think we’ve all seen the story where a young hero gets thrown into a life of adventure due to some kind of unfortunate circumstance. (Village burning down/mentor dying) The hero makes friends along the way, discovers who they are as a person, find love, and get a whole roster of new powers. Their quest usually centers around defeating a big bad villain – and that quest tends to end after said big bad villain is defeated.
- Frodo Baggins quested to defeat The Dark Lord Sauron (Lord of the Rings)
- Luke Skywalker quested to defeat Emperor Palpatine (Star Wars)
- Aang quested to defeat the Fire Lord (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
- Arya Stark quested to defeat the Lannisters (Game of Thrones)
I wanted to see what one of these heroic journies might look like from the other side.
What might it look like when you’re the member of an established “evil organization” who is shaken by the sudden appearance of an unknown group of super powerful young heroes? How might it play out when you’re the one who has to deal with the consequences of losing?
THE STORY –
Episode I: Casus Belli
Niara Sonata is the daughter of Damion Sonata – Lord Master of a powerful vampire family living in the United States. Their family had it all, money, power, respect, all the humans they could eat. That is until Niara’s father had the misfortune of becoming the big bad villain at the end of a young vampire hunter’s journey.
Damion Sonata is slain in an epic battle between a group of novice monster slayers and Damion’s most powerful vampire agents.
Niara is given little time to mourn, however, when vampire hunters become the least of her problems. The death of her father and several powerful agents has left the Sonata family vulnerable.
There are five great vampire families who dominate most of the United States from the city of New York. All of them, ready to devour each other at the first sign of weakness. And if there’s one thing vampire’s are good at…it’s smelling blood in the water.
Niara and her elder brother Nero find themselves on the defensive as they begin to suspect that their father’s killers were helped by a rival vampire family – and that his death may have only been the first step in a conspiracy to take down their Great House.
This series will be released in episodic form – meaning each episode will be a short story averaging under 10,000 words.
This series will be my own special blend of drama, suspense, and over-the-top (not to mention gory) action.
The first episode is being offered free until NOV 8.
